How to Develop Your Personal Brand

by Stephanie Bryant

If you came to me asking for help with your brand, here are some of the questions I would ask.

Take the time to answer each of these. Your brand will thank you. {So will your consumer.}

First, forget about words for a moment, build a pinterest board that visually expresses what you want to be known for.

Then, using your words, in brief moments of stream of consciousness, begin to answer each of the following:

  • What do you want to be known for?
  • Where do you hope to be a year from now?
  • What is the expectation that you hope to create for your future customer?
  • If you were making a promise to your customer, what would it be?
  • Who would be your ideal consumer, target audience? Describe her, her life situation, her interests, give her a name.
  • Key words that would describe your brand and the kind of experience your customer will have.
  • If you were riding up an elevator with someone that could potentially fund, partner, or help you do what you do, how would you answer “What do you do?”

This is the hard work. But you’ve got to do it. . . even before the visible work begins.
