Want to Be a Tribal Leader?

by Stephanie Bryant

Then you have to help other people.

You have to be okay with being behind the scenes.

You need to be looking for new, innovative ways to work smarter.

You must be willing to clean up the messes.

You have to think strategically and be willing to partner with those that do ‘it’ better than you.

You have to be more concerned about the tribe, the individual members, their issues and concerns than you do yourself. There is no room for jealousy or competitve behavior here. If you do, the tribe will fizzle and die.

{Creating a tribe and leading it well has very little to do with Facebook. Social media tools are only a form of communication for the tribe to have community, not the focus of a tribe or what creates one.}

Think about real tribes. The ones that live in the remotest parts of the world.  How do they thrive and survive? They help each other. They protect each other. They share stories of how it should be done, traditions. They look to their leader for guidance and that leadership is willing to serve.

It’s not about you as the leader, the company, the product. It’s about the tribal followers. They will decide if they will crown you as their leader.

You can’t ask for it, demand it, or work for it. . . you must serve the tribe and care only about the community that is being created. Serving them well will look different based on your vision and passions, but must be authentic.

Want an amazing tribe to follow you, buy what you’re selling, make an idea viral, become passionate about your vision like you are? Remember like attracts like and your tribe is waiting for someone to truly care and serve them.

Who do you think is a true tribal leader {it could be an individual, a company}?
